Level 1 – Award in Spirits

The Level 1 Award in Spirits Online covers the same syllabus as the 

 classroom course, but through a supported and interactive Online
  classroom which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator. Please note that the exam is completed
in person and not online.

This online course will guide you through the world’s key spirit categories and production methods. The course is designed to introduce spirits in an interactive, structured and concise manner. You will learn how to taste spirits using a systematic approach.

As you work through the course you will be asked to share your learning experience with the rest of the course group, by sharing your tasting notes. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, and you will need to taste a minimum of 6 spirits (not provided, but you will be given guidance on the categories to taste).

Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

Level 2 – Award in Spirits

The Level 2 Award in Spirits covers an interactive course which allows you 
to study under the expert guidance of a dedicated WSET approved 
educators from leading spirits distributor Emporia brands, who are hosting 
the course in collaboration with the Liquid Academy.

Please note that the exam is completed in person and not online.

The course covers the main categories of spirits and liqueurs as well as the influences of production methods on the different styles available in each category. Students will be introduced to our Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits while also exploring the use of spirits in cocktails. The product knowledge gained on this course will give a significant advantage to those working with spirits in both on- and off-trade alcohol.

As you work through the course you will be asked to share your learning experience with the rest of the course group, looking at the key spirit types and sharing tasting notes. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, & you will be tasting a minimum of 8 spirits throughout the course.
